Ginoo for Bagyo ng Musika at Manila Hotel dinner concert
Take three top lawyers, put them together under the name Ginoo (which means gentleman) and bring out their love for music. And the result is a gentlemanly way of meting out help to others, afflicted by war and natural calamities.
It is for this reason, that Ginoo members — chief presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo, corporate lawyer and former Press secretary Mike Toledo, and former Sen. Joey Lina Jr. — have come together for a special fundraising dinner-concert aptly billed Bagyo ng Musika, on Independence Day, June 12, 7 p.m. at The Manila Hotel’s Fiesta Pavilion.
Prepare yourself not just for a fine dinner but for an array of music styles and selections. Joey is preparing his repertoire of Broadway showstoppers and dramatic standards, while Mike is touching up his lineup with samples of his favorite genre, which is jazz. Salvador, meanwhile, a mean piano player himself, regales everyone with one of his own compositions — a love song. Proceeds of the dinner-concert, directed by Freddie Santos, will benefit the undernourished Grade 1 and 2 pupils of Marawi City, in cooperation with Gawad Kalinga’s Kusina sa Kalinga anti-hunger program. The fund-raising show also aims to assist in the Philippine government’s anti-hunger program in other parts of the country.
The Rhythm Ensemble of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Maestro Rodel Colmenar, provides the musical accompaniment. Jenine Desiderio performs as a special guest, who, apart from her own selections, will be performing with the three lawyers in a specially arranged medley of duets. Show project management is by Salute Promotions of Beth Tagle.
