LIGHTS UP DAGUPAN CITY

-

PHILIPS LIGHTING, THE WORLD LEADER IN lighting, together with the City of Dagupan, conducted the official lighting ceremony of Pantal Bridge, an iconic architecture in Northern Luzon made brighter and livelier through Philips LED lighting technology.

As the first Philips Color Kinetics bridge installation in the Philippines, Dagupan has invested over 1,314 LED units in Pantal Bridge in its aim to emerge as an energy-efficient metropolitan center in the country. The light-up accentuates the grandeur of Pantal Bridge while highlighting its role in linking Dagupeños closer together.

“The City of Dagupan is a city that highly values families and aims to foster a deep connection among its people. Inspired by this backbone commitment, it is one of the pioneering cities that saw how LEDs can not only propel urban beautification and energy efficiency. More so, Dagupan saw how the power of LEDs can help connect lives and make citizens and tourists alike feel at home – and Philips Lighting is proud to be the chosen partner of Dagupan in making this vision happen,” said Jagan Srinivasan, Philips Lighting country manager.

For more than 20 years, Philips Color Kinetics has been transforming monuments, façades, bridges and other similar landmarks in more than 100 countries, like the Nhật Tân Bridge and Dragon Bridge in Vietnam, the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, the Empire State Building and iconic bridges in London like The London Bridge, Waterloo Bridge and Golden Jubilee Bridge and the London Eye.

Reliable, energy-efficient and of superior quality, this revolutionary lighting solution of Philips Lighting has made it possible to highlight both the architectural marvel of these infrastructures as well as their symbolism to the people. Philips Color Kinetics was able to breathe color, dynamism and life to these remarkable landmarks, making cities a livelier and more sustainable living space for both the residents and tourists.

“More than a milestone and notable symbol of Dagupan City, Pantal Bridge serves as the most significant groundwork that links each and every citizen of the city – be it in essence or in symbolism. As we light up this bridge, it all the more serves as an embodiment of radiance that will guide us through our endeavors. And just like the women and mothers of our homes, this bridge and our people are what serve as the light of Dagupan,” said Mayor Belen Fernandez.

Pantal Bridge, which spans the Pantal River, is one of Dagupan’s monumental structures that spans a total length of 380 meters, connecting the new Lucao-Dawel Road. It provides an alternative route to nearby towns of Binmaley and San Fabian and likewise stretches access to seafaring vessels coming to and from the Manila, Vigan and Bolinao.
