India confers Padma Shri Award to Concepcion

-

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (Go Negosyo) founder Joey Concepcion was recently conferred with the Padma Shri Award, the fourth highest civilian award from the Republic of India.

President Duterte congratulated him as the sole Filipino recipient of the prestigious award. The other awardees were Indian citizens from various sectors. In a letter to Concepcion, President Duterte lauded his work in ensuring the success of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) over the past two decades, which has opened opportunities, boosted businesses and uplifted the lives of the Filipino people, especially the poor.

“You make us all very proud and I am very glad that you are part of this administration,” Duterte added.

Concepcion has thanked the President for his support to the private sector initiatives led by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (Go Negosyo).

“Since my appointment, I have always appreciated the President’s confidence in us and his encouragement for the programs that we designed and spearheaded to advocate the 3Ms (Mentorship, Money and Market) for MSME development. These programs include the “Kapatid Mentor ME,” the “Kapatid Agri Mentor ME” and the “Pilipinas, Angat Lahat,” all of which have begun to empower micro and small entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and to partner with anchor firms as part of their value chains. President Duterte’s passion and drive to alleviate poverty inspire us to do more for the same goal.”

Moving forward, Concepcion has committed to continue spearheading the private sector’s efforts to create programs that strengthen the entrepreneurship community as a concrete step toward inclusive growth and prosperity for the country.
