Mutya and Grandma Malabon 2018 crowned
The reigning Grandma Malabon and the Mutya ng Malabon this year were enthroned during coronation nights held at Oreta Sports Center on May 20 and 21, climaxing the month-long Tambobong Festival on the city’s 419th Foundation Day.
Amidst the city’s jam-packed celebration, City Mayor Antolin Oreta III and first lady Melissa Sison-Oreta managed to keep Malabonians’ energies up, with thousands from 21 barangays and neighboring communities trooping to witness the back-to back event.
Relinquishing the Grandma Malabon 2015 crown, 78-yearold Lourdes De Dios turned over the title to Princess Salome Soriano (75) of Barangay Taňong.
Zenaida Andaya (Ibaba) was 1st runner-up, with Norma Bustamante (Tugatog), Judetha Reyes (Panghulo) and Margarita Bautista (Potrero) who was also Best in Resort Wear, taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
Lolita Palma of Barangay Longos topped the talent competition held on May 5 at Malabon City Square, while Roman Ignacio of Barangay Muzon was awarded Ms. Photogenic and Best in Long Gown for her prowess.
Meanwhile, the equally majestic Mutya ng Malabon 2018 coronation night granted Barangay Tonsuya’s Ivory Calampinay the title crown.
Ivory shall also represent the city in Eat Bulaga’s Miss Millennial search this year in which Mutya ng Malabon 2017 Shiara Mae Dizon was 1st runner-up last year.
The success of the event and the Tambobong Festival, Mayor Oreta said, was proof that “…when we work together, we can overcome trials.”
