ethimo leads outdoor furniture revolution
There’s an outdoor revolution going on, says Ethimo sales head Danilo Bordi. Ethimo is an Italian furniture brand that specializes in high-quality outdoor furnishings and décor.
Danilo was in Manila to visit Ethimo’s exclusive distributor Home Studio Inc. and he says the Philippines is ready for the outdoor revolution. Ethimo’s design is very apt for the country’s sunny and tropical weather all year round. Ethimo is proud of their Mediterranean charm and feel, and their design made for comfort and practicality. The high-end materials also ensure end users with longer lasting outdoor furnishings.
“It’s really more practical to spend on good-quality outdoor furniture than to have to keep changing your pieces because the cheap ones get old easy,” says Grant Lim, Home Studio’s owner and CEO. He adds that gone are the days when homeowners neglect their outdoor space. It has now become part of the entire look of one’s home.
Danilo agrees, saying their sales in the region have definitely been looking good. He boasts of their new collection, which was showcased in the recently concluded Salone del Mobile at the Milan Design Week 2018. “The new collection is a display of enchanting Mediterranean colors and made to enhance any outdoor area to create sophisticated settings for every homeowner to relax and savor the true luxury of free time.
One of their collections is Esedra designed by Luca Nichetto. At the time of the ancient Romans, the “exedra” was a semi-circular space where social gatherings and philosophical debates were held. The collection Esedra takes its name from this element of classical architecture to create a complete range of furniture for a contemporary outdoor look, establishing a relationship between the various materials, such as the synthetic fiber used for the seat-backs. It recreates the sensation of natural woven fiber and comes with fabric upholstery and aluminum legs.
Another collection is Knit, an original synthesis of beauty and functionality, with a finished quality in every detail, from the wooden structure in teak or black mahogany of the tables and chairs, to the interlaced weave of the armchair, in synthetic roped fabric, elegant and ideal for outdoor use.
Danilo adds we shouldn’t waste our beautiful gift of sunshine and tropical weather and to enjoy the outdoors more. “It is a shame not to be in love with such beautiful designs. With Ethimo in one’s veranda, why would one stay indoors?”
