Marquez among SC post candidates

-

Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez is still being considered as one of the candidates to replace Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco Jr. who will retire on Aug. 8, the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) said.

Twelve candidates are being considered to replace Velasco. Six of the candidates, including Marquez, were interviewed.

This is not the first time that Marquez aspired to be a justice. He was among the candidates for the post vacated by SC Associate Justices Bienvenido Reyes and Jose Mendoza.

SC Clerk of Court and JBC ex officio Secretary Edgar Aricheta said the other candidates who were interviewed were Ramon Bato, Apolinario Bruselas Jr., Rosemari Carandang, Ramon Paul Hernando and Jose Reyes Jr.

The JBC also scheduled a public panel interview on June 14 at the Division Hearing Room of the SC Main Building for the other six applicants.

They are Oscar Badelles, Manuel Barrios, Carlos Espero II, Ramon D.R. Garcia, Amy LazaroJavier and Cesar Villanueva.

The JBC has encouraged the public to submit a sworn complaint, report or opposition against any of the 12 applicants either through personal delivery or mail addressed to the JBC 2nd Floor, Centennial Building, Supreme Court, Padre Faura Street, Manila City.

The JBC could also be reached at landlines 552-9512 or fax at 55296-07 or send their email to jbc@ judiciary.gov.ph and jbc87supremecourt@gmail.com
