Imee leads Women in Sports Congress participants
Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos leads around 150 local executives and sports leaders-participants from all over the country in the Women in Sports Congress of the Philippine Sports Commission at the Century Park Hotel today.
Commissioner in-charge for women in sports Celia Kiram said the assembly aims to acquaint local women leaders and executives on issues about women in sports.
“We hope that with this, we could help them align their programs with the PSC women in sports agenda,” said Kiram.
Governors, mayors, sports executives and leaders are expected to participate in the two-day event which will be conducted by Gabriela Muller-Mendoza, a Mexican communication and female leadership specialist based in Switzerland, who has worked with the International Olympic Committee on several projects as well as with a number of International Sports Federations.
Mendoza arrived yesterday and immediately met with the PSC working group on the project.
“I hope the seminar brings out the best in our women leaders, so they can continue to inspire those who look to them for guidance and inspiration,” said Kiram.
She added that another women in sports congress is scheduled next month for indigenous women leaders.
“Our target is to gather 500 women leaders in Bongao, the capital of Tawi Tawi,” she said.
The PSC regularly conducts activities on women in sports, as mandated by law through Republic Act 9710, also called the “Magna Carta of Women”.
