Mr. Universe Chavit Singson supports the pageant wherever it is held

-

Former Ilocos Sur Gov./now Narvacan Councilor Luis ‘Chavit’ Singson will forever be identified with the Miss Universe Pageant, after all he was conferred the title ‘Mr. Universe’ for his contribution (financially and much more) to the 2016 pageant held here for the third time (following in 1974 and 1994).

During the pageant, Chavit supported the DOT (Department of Tourism) in entertaining the contestants who were video-taped in various tourist spots (especially in the Ilocos Region).

During a casual post-lunch meeting with some movie writers, Chavit said that he agreed with the decision of the new DOT chief Berna Romulo-Puyat not to hold the pageant again in the country this year, contrary to the plan of former DOT head Wanda Teo who said that the Miss U contestants would be the perfect attraction for the re-opening of Boracay.

Obviously, Berna has other (more important) plans in mind, saying it’s too soon to host the pageant again.

‘But wherever the pageant will be held,’ according to Chavit, ‘I will support it, whether in Macau, in Vietnam, in China, in Thailand or wherever.’

Photos show Chavit (above, left) wearing the Mr. Universe sash) with 2016 Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere (of France) who won the title in Manila in January 2017, and (above, right) with outgoing (2015) Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and some of that year’s hopefuls.
