Netizens slam PCOO over ‘Rogelio’ error
The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) drew flak anew for mistakenly referring to the late national security adviser and former Parañaque congressman Roilo Golez as “Rogelio.”
Netizens on Friday pointed out the error on the agency’s social media post reporting on to President Duterte’s visit at the wake of Golez at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.
“President Duterte pays his last respects to the former National Security Adviser Rogelio ‘Roilo’ Golez in the wake visit at the Heritage Park Mortuary and Crematory in Taguig City on June 14, 2018,” the post read.
Golez’s son, Parañaque Vice Mayor Rico Golez, called out state-run PTV-4 for the mistake.
“My father’s name is Jose Roilo S. Golez. Kindly make the necessary correction if possible. Thank you very much @PTVph,” Golez said on his Twitter account on June 13.
The wrong caption was attached to the official photos released by the PCOO on its social media account @pcoogov, carried by PTV-4 and forwarded to members of the Malacañang Press Corps (MPC).
The PCOO has since edited the post and deleted the tweet.
The agency’s content and messaging group emailed the photos with the wrong caption to the MPC and other media entities, some of which also carried the error.
The erroneous entry came in the wake of another snafu wherein the PCOO handlers referred to Norway as “Norwegia.”
The PCOO shared photos of President Duterte with outgoing Norwegian Ambassador Erik Forner during an exit call at Malacañang last week.
Duterte paid his last respects to Golez and condoled with the family and relatives at the Heritage Park in Taguig City before dawn of June 14.
Golez was laid to rest at the Heritage Memorial Park yesterday, following a 21gun salute and horse-drawn military procession at noon.
Top military officials, the congressman’s classmates at the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1970 and his fellow Annapolis Naval Academy graduates including former transportation secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya attended the funeral.
