5 drug, rob suspects slain in QC

Two alleged robbers and three drug suspects were killed in simultaneo­us encounters with police in a span of one hour in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Two men known only as Rigor and Rakrak, said to be members of Akyat Bahay gang, were shot dead along San Mateo Road in Barangay Batasan Hills at around 2 a.m.

Police responded to reports that the suspects were involved in a robbery in the area. But they were allegedly fired upon by the suspects, which led to their neutraliza­tion.

Probers said they recovered two .38-caliber handguns, 12 sachets of shabu and drug parapherna­lia at the scene.

In Barangay Milagrosa, drug suspect Danilo Valenzuela and his companion, known only as Bansot, were killed after they allegedly engaged police in a firefight along Alvarez Extension.

Anti-narcotics operatives said they were able to buy shabu from the suspects.

When they sensed they were dealing with police, the suspects allegedly opened fire and hit a police officer, who was wearing a bullet-proof vest.

In Barangay Sta. Monica, members of the Novaliches police shot dead another drug suspect in an alleged encounter along Midway street.

In Parañaque City, a suspected drug pusher was killed by police during a sting along C-5 Extension in Barangay San Dionisio yesterday.

The suspect, known only as Boy Tattoo, allegedly sold two sachets of shabu to Police Officer 1 Jerome Fernandez who posed as buyer.

Police said 79 drug suspects were arrested in southern Metro Manila since Friday.

Authoritie­s said they recovered 66 sachets of shabu during the operations.

In eastern Metro Manila, 10 persons were arrested during separate anti-drug operations on Saturday.

In Mandaluyon­g, Mario Engracia, alias Siyete, 35; Cyrys de Lima, 31, and Jonjon Soriano, 32, were collared during a sting in Barangay Addition Hills.

The three allegedly yielded sachets of shabu and P500 in marked money.

In Pasig City, five drug suspects were nabbed in separate operations in Barangays Palatiw, Pinagbuhat­an and Manggahan.

They were Magdalena Manuel, 45; Flordeliza Griffiths, alias Liza, 44; Jonathan Solamillo, 31, Ernesto Beronio, 36, and Rodolfo Marcelo, alias Odie, 46.

Senior Superinten­dent Orlando Yebra Jr., Pasig police chief, said Manuel, Griffiths and Solamillo were on the drug watchlist.

In Marikina City, Larry Tinay and Ronald Atendido were apprehende­d while smoking cigarettes along P. Tuazon street in Barangay Barangka.

When frisked, Senior Inspector Emil Garcia of the Police Community Precinct 2 said Tinay and Atendido yielded packs of shabu. –
