Go leaves Senate run decision to Duterte

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go was overwhelmed by the warm welcome shown by this city’s residents, who flocked to the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines to meet him.

The residents expressed support to the Duterte administration and urged Go to run for the Senate in the next year’s midterm elections.

“It’s up to the President. I will just do as he says, in case I will run for senator. Right now, my focus is to help those victims of fire. My job is to help Filipinos,” Go said when asked about his plans for 2019.

Go attended the event organized by the Go na Tayo Northern Mindanao Alliance.

The members of the group are spread out in the provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental.

Go, who has been going around the country to promote the government’s three-point campaign against illegal drugs, crime and corruption, visited this city and was met by thousands from all over Northern Mindanao. All were urging him to “heed the call of the people” to run for senator.

Cagayan de Oro was among the cities that benefitted from Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs.

Residents said the streets are now safer for their family, especially for the children.

“The President is furious about drugs. He promised to eradicate or at least diminish the drug problem before his term ends. The government only wants to protect the interest of the nation. We want to uplift the life of every Filipino,” Go said.
