If you are planning to register for the May 2019 elections just to get a voter’s identification card, then you are in for disappointment.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday reiterated that the poll body is no longer issuing voters IDs.

“This voters’ registration will not result to them getting voter’s ID. If you are looking to be a registered voters just to get a voter’s ID, just forget it,” Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said.

The Comelec stopped printing voter’s IDs as early as 2012 following proposals to establish a national ID system in the country, he added.

“Get registered with the purpose of voting come the elections,” Jimenez said.

The Comelec resumed voters’ registration on July 2 and this will run until Sept. 29.

Those interested to vote in next year’s elections may file their applications from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at city or municipal Office of Election Officers nationwide.
