Foton opens new dealership in Cebu

- By MANNY N. DE LOS REYES

UNITED Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), the exclusive distributor of FOTON vehicles in the Philippines, started another journey down south as it inaugurated its Talisay, Cebu showroom last June 26.

The new facility is FOTON’s second in Cebu, along with their Mandaue dealership which opened in 2013.

Known as one of the country’s most developed provinces in terms of commerce, trade, and industry, Cebu has thrived into a global hub for shipping, furnituremaking, tourism, business processing services, and heavy industry.

FOTON Talisay, Cebu dealer principal Markane Goho exclaimed, “On behalf of the Gateway Group, I would like to thank UAAGI for granting us this dealership. We are dazed with the brand’s extensive product lineup and we are confident that these vehicles will surely provide first-rate mobility solutions for various types of businesses and organizations here in Cebu.”

The 2,400-sqm dealership is divided into two phases — first area is for the passenger vehicle segment while the second area is dedicated for the light- and heavy-duty truck showrooms and service bays. Phase 2 is currently under construction and is set to open on this year’s Q4.

“With the strong economic investors’ confidence level, more projects and infrastructures are being developed in our locality — a great opportunity to market FOTON’s products and services,” noted Goho.

FOTON Talisay, Cebu (also known as FOTON Cebu South) has a rambling service workshop set to deliver the latest FOTON technology headed by well-trained technicians.

“Gateway Group has been known to cater only to sedans. Now, we already have trucks in store. Kumpleto na talaga ang Gateway Group,” proudly announced the younger FOTON Talisay, Cebu dealer principal Michael Goho.

Also highlighting the ceremony was the launch of the all-new FOTON Tornado M light-duty truck (driven by FOTON Philippines president Sytin along with dealer principal Markane Goho in the opening), the newest addition in the commercial vehicle segment powered by the highly advanced ISF 3.8 FOTON Cummins Blue Energy Euro 4 Engine. Unlike many other trucks, the FOTON Tornado M boasts a full complement of safety technologies and features that presents a totality of car comfort and truck capability in one.

“We will continue to offer our growing line-up of vehicles, and provide Southern Cebu with excellent customer service and the same dedication that we’ve embossed in our existing network of 25 dealerships across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao,” FOTON Philippines president Rommel Sytin added. “To the men and women of Gateway Group, I’m hoping that this will be a fruitful and long term partnership.”

“We are very excited to help FOTON grow even more as we see the ever-booming auto

industry as FOTON already made it to the Top 10 in the Philippine automotive industry rankings — considering that it just started a decade ago.” noted Goho.

The commercial brand’s fortunes in the Philippine market continue to ascend. Shortly after registering a yearon-year sales growth of 12.2 percent for May 2018, FOTON Philippines also reinforced its dealership network expansion as Sytin announced that FOTON will soon establish a new dealership in Bohol and in Sasa, Davao City on Q4 of 2018 — still under the management of Gateway Group.

“We’re looking forward to exceptional sales and service performance, happy customers, better relationships, faster approvals, growth sustainability and consistency to UAAGI, Gateway and FOTON Cebu South,” closed Michael Goho.
