L’Oreal empowers women in science
The event: L’Oreal and UNESCO advocates for gender equality and women’s empowerment in the sciences through the For Women in Sciences (FWIS) program. Launched in 1998, the program has supported more than 3,100 women scientists in 117 countries. The event last June 5 marked the return of the event in the Philippines through the awarding of the newest FIWS National Fellow, Dr. Charissa Ferrera, who pushes for sustainable mariculture by advocating to help communities recover from effects of pollution through effective science communication.
