REMY MARTIN BRINGS THE GENTLEMAN CULTURE BACK
It was a rugged, sophisticated affair when men of distinction swirled exquisite Cognac in their glasses, while relaxed in the luxury of leather barber seats. Some even submitted to the steady hands of “groomists” who skillfully glided straight razors across the men’s faces. In a corner stood another group, whose subdued chatter accompanied the sound of scissors snipping away in the background.
The cocktail bar, dahling, on one end of the room revealed that this was not your typical barbershop. And the people in the room? Not your typical men!
“Thank you for coming. You, gentlemen, are becoming increas- ingly hard to find,” says Myke Soon of Rémy Martin breaking through the chatter to address the men in the room. “That’s why we’re trying to bring back the glory days of the gentleman.”
The event, dubbed “A Cut Above the Rest,” was the first of many that Rémy Martin has set for the year to revive Manille’s gentleman culture. It’s part of The Dapper Series, which celebrates the manly values of style and sophistication. In this case, the focus was on grooming— the particulars of which were expertly demonstrated by event partner The Refined Lounge, which shares Rémy Martin’s vision of “How a Man Ought to Conduct Himself.”
“Rémy Martin deems it our duty to bring back the times when men were held to exceptional standards, the brand has been upholding for almost three centuries. The esteemed cognac house made Rémy Martin a favorite among European noblemen. Nowadays, it continues to be preferred by men of stature — “from business magnates to rap moguls,” said Myke.
