Join special job fairs, SHS students urged
To find immediate employment, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) yesterday advised senior high school graduates to join special job fairs.
The DOLE, in partnership with other government agencies and the private sector, is initiating special job fairs for senior high school graduates.
Based on data from the Department of Education (DepEd), nearly half or 40 percent of the more than one million senior high school graduates nationwide will not pursue college education and will be looking for jobs immediately.
Last Monday, the DOLE and the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) mounted a special job fair at the Midtown Atrium of Robinsons Place in Ermita, Manila.
“The special job fair aims to provide the youth with a springboard to explore the different employment opportunities that will be available to them,” the DOLE said.
The job fair featured an assessment of the competencies of applicants in terms of intelligence quotient, numerical aptitude, personality or behavioral test and values test, among others.
There were also free career talks on how to prepare a good resumé, how to conduct one's self during interviews, professionalism and personality branding, what recruiters look for when hiring fresh graduates, and helpful tips for young professionals in starting their career. –
