- – Rey Galupo

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) died after allegedly undergoing an abortion in a motel in Quiapo, Manila Wednesday afternoon.

Nelia Sotelo, 32, who flew in from Dubai earlier this week, was declared dead on arrival at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.

Sotelo checked in at the motel, accompanied by Catherine San Jose on Tuesday, according to Senior Police Officer 2 Donald Panaligan, Manila Police District homicide investigator.

A few hours later, Luzviminda Tibay, 48, arrived and allegedly performed the abortion, he said.

At around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, San Jose left the room to buy food but discovered Sotelo bleeding profusely when she came back.

San Jose told police her friend had an abortion. Tibay was arrested when San Jose led police to her house.
