The Grid Food Market lets you build your own version of a happy meal.

fave weekend market? Check. Coffee from that café you keep coming back to? Check. This food hall concept isn’t new. The basic idea is pretty close to that of a regular mall food court or, if you wanna be hip about it, a food park. But what makes The Grid special is that it links powerhouse chefs to a community that wants to enjoy good food all the time. There are 15 stalls operated by the same groups behind some of Manila’s best restaurants, and you know what that means: we get to build our own version of a happy meal by simply ordering from different stalls. Think: chipirones (squid) pinxto from Rambla for starters? Yas. How about a giant plate of Thai pork chop (with laing on the side) from Flower Boy (formerly Tankchop XL)? Gimme that Spicy Gyokai Tsukemen (noodles dipped in broth) from Tsuke-Men. One can also never go wrong with an order of Happy Ongpauco-Tiu’s Le Chon angus beef belly. But regardless of how full you think you are, there will always be room for a 17-layer chocolate and salted caramel cake from The Workshop by Chefs Miko Aspiras and Kristine Lotilla. Oh, and their Basque burnt cheesecake, too. There are so many things that can go wrong in our day, but lucky for us, there are just as many (if not more) happy meal combinations we can come up with in The Grid Food Market.

The other stalls from faves like Bucky’s, Ping Pong Diplomacy, and Bruce Rickett’s much-awaited second branch of La Chinesca are set to open in the next few weeks, so there’ll be even more reasons to come back. The Grid’s cozy familystyle
