F2 Logistics, Cignal gun for outright semis berths

-

Games today (Muntinlupa Sports Center) 4 p.m. – Cignal vs Cocolife 6 p.m. – Petron vs F2 Logistics

F2 Logistics and Cignal go for a sweep of their respective pools and the two outright semifinal berths today as they take on Petron and Cocolife, respectively, at the close of the preliminaries of the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.

The Cargo Movers hope to ride the momentum of their three-game run and pounce on the Blaze Spikers’ shaky game the last time out as they tangle in a key Pool A duel at 7 p.m.

Led by veteran Rachel Anne Daquis, defending champion Cignal tries to make a return trip to the semis with another win while leaving Smart-Army and Sta. Lucia Realty in a fight against the Nos. 3 and 2 teams in Pool A, respectively, of the crossover quarterfinals.

F2 Logistics braces for a tough outing against Petron, which is coming into the match out to rebound from its five-set shocker at the hands of Generika-Ayala Tuesday.

Majoy Baron, Cha Cruz-Behag and Kianna Dy are again expected to lead the Cargo Movers’ charge along with Aby Maraño, Ara Galang, setter Kim Fajardo and Dawn Macandili.

Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos, meanwhile, will pin his hopes on Ces Molina, Mika Reyes, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Bernadeth Pons, Sisi Rondina and setter Rhea Dimaculangan. The Blaze Spikers need to beat the Cargo Movers in three or four sets to earn three more points and steal the top spot via one-point victory in the quotient.

A loss would drop Petron to the third spot to face the second placer in Pool B. Generika-Ayala moves to No. 2. for a quarters duel with the other pool’s No. 3 squad.

The tournament is sponsored by Isuzu, UCPB Gen and Sogo Hotel with ESPN5, Hyper HD and Aksyon TV as broadcast partners and backed by Senoh, Asics, Mikasa, Mueller and Grand Sport.
