China International Robot Show kicks o in Shanghai
The annual China International Robot Show (CIROS) recently opened in Shanghai, showcasing the world’s top robotic products and technologies.
More than 500 robot makers and robotics suppliers from 13 countries and regions gathered at CIROS 2018, China News Service reports.
The 38,000-square-meter venue dazzled with various types of industrial and service robots, including patrol robots, machines that can perform welcoming services and those able to sketch a visitor’s portrait in minutes based on a photo taken there and then.
“Currently, we are mainly designing robots that can provide customized services which conform to the needs of different customers. For example, the robots we are exhibiting today can perform crosstalk, but if the customer requires robots equipped with functions to play basketball or badminton, we can do that as well,” said Xi’an Superman Robot Technology Co. Ltd.’s Luo Ming.
Robots in line with education and elderly health care were also on display at the show.
According to the International Federation of Robotics, China saw the largest growth in demand for industrial robots last year, meaning it has now been the world’s largest industrial robot market for five consecutive years. In the service robot sector, which covers entertainment, education, catering and health care, robot-china.com estimated that the sales of service robots in China would break 20bn yuan ($3 billion).
