Scorpions shoot for crucial win

-

Games today 1 p.m. – AMA vs CEU 3 p.m. – Batangas-EAC vs Che’Lu Bar and Grill

Centro Escolar University tries to bounce back from a tough loss and resume its drive for a berth in the semifinals as it faces also-ran AMA Online Education in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig today.

Skipper Orlan Wamar hopes to atone for his scoreless output last Monday that led to the Scorpions’ 60-75 setback to an undermanned Go for Gold side.

CEU, which dropped to fourth at 4-4, hopes to chalk up the win in its 1 p.m. encounter with AMA Online, out to check an eight-game slide and provide the spoiler’s role.

Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College, right behind the Scorpions with a 3-5 card, also seeks to stay in the semis hunt as it faces semisbound Che’Lu Bar and Grill at 3 p.m.

“When we saw during warm-ups that Go for Gold was shorthanded, my teammates and I became relaxed. We underestimated them that’s why we lost,” said Wamar, referring to their loss to the Scratchers, who showed up without injured key players Gab Banal, Jerwin Gaco, James Martinez and Ron Dennison.

Judel Fuentes and Pierce Chan, who combined for just 10 points for CEU in the loss, also vowed to rebound against the likes of Andre Paras and Owen Graham of the Titans.

Meanwhile, the Generals aim to hold on to their semis goals against the Revellers, who clinched the first two Final Four seats with the Scratchers following Marinerong PilipinoTIP’s 80-74 come-from-behind victory over Batangas-EAC last Monday.

Che’Lu and Go for Gold tote identical 6-2 slates.
