Ex-child actor nabbed in drug sting

A former child actor was arrested in a drug sting staged by Caloocan police in Quezon City on July 31, an official said yesterday.

CJ Ramos, real name Cromell John Ocampo Ramos, 31, and alleged pusher Louvella Gilen, alias Jackie, 36, reportedly yielded a sachet of shabu each, Chief Superinten­dent Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director, said in a press conference yesterday.

Ramos was known for his roles in the television drama series “Tanging Yaman” and the sitcom “Ang TV” on ABSCBN.

Senior Superinten­dent Restituto Arcanghel, Caloocan police chief, said Ramos and Gilen were newly identified drug personalit­ies of the city.

Arcanghel said their target was Gilen, reported to be behind the proliferat­ion of shabu in her neighborho­od in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

Gilen was arrested after handing over P500 worth of shabu to an informant.

Ramos, who was also buying shabu from Gilen, was also arrested.

In Marikina, at least 14 persons were arrested during simultaneo­us raids on two drug dens on Thursday.

One drug den was located along Malunggay street while the other was on Singkamas street. Raiding teams composed of Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency operatives and local police officers seized 65 grams of shabu, with a street value of P472,000 and drug parapherna­lia, said Senior Superinten­dent Bernabe Balba, Eastern Police District director.

Among those arrested were Jhohanie Biston, alias Jeremy, 30; Virgilio Piala, 46; Indar Mangangcon­g, alias Dino, 48; Rowel Cruz, 21; Almair Bao, 26; Aries Lim, 43; Archie Rivas, 37; Ryan Bermillo, 30; Jay-R Santos, 32; Renevin baylon, 37; Raymond Malabiga, 33; Rolando Liwanag, 60; Kathleen Dizon, 18, and May Anne Camacho, 34.

In Caloocan, suspected pushers Leo Grutas, 54, a fishing vessel captain; Rolando Montemor, 54; Roldan Fariolen, 37, and Gil dela Cruz, 52, were arrested in a sting along Sabalo street in Barangay 12 Thursday night.

A sachet of shabu and marked money were recovered from the suspects.
