SONA on GMA

-

GMA News and Public Affairs proved to be the viewers’ most preferred source of news and information, especially during events of national significance such as its coverage of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 23.

According to ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, SONA 2018: The GMA News Special Coverage posted an overnight people audience share of 41.2 percent in the National Urban Television Audience Measure (NUTAM)

Anchored by Pia Arcangel, SONA 2018: The GMA News Special Coverage tallied an even bigger lead in viewer-rich Urban Luzon, where it posted an overnight people audience share of 46 percent.

Earlier that day, GMA News gave viewers updates starting from Unang Hirit’s Unang Balita in the morning. Following the airing of Pres. Duterte’s speech, GMA’s primetime newscast 24 Oras and late-night news program Saksi continued to provide viewers highlights of the recently-concluded SONA and the biggest news in and out of the Batasang Pambansa Complex. Unang Hirit, 24 Oras and Saksi won over their competing programs as well.

At the same time, GMA News TV provided latest developments on SONA through Dobol B sa NewsTV, News to Go, Balitanghali, News TV Live, Balita Pilipinas Ngayon, News TV Quick Response Team and its flagship newscast State of the Nation with Jessica Soho.

Radio listeners were also able to get the latest updates throughout the day with GMA Network’s flagship AM radio station Super Radyo DZBB 594khz delivering the biggest news and latest updates related to the President’s SONA.

Netizens caught the latest updates for SONA 2018 on GMA News Online (www. gmanews.tv). Through the day, they followed the blow-byblow coverage by @GMANews on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Viber. The GMA News stream of the address generated more than a million views on YouTube and Facebook.
