Fernando Zobel at SilverKris Lounge NAIA 3
In line with its tradition of promoting Filipino talent and artistry, Singapore Airlines (SIA) recently unveiled the newest addition to its collection of pieces on display at the SilverKris Lounge in Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
A strong supporter of Philippine art, Singapore Airlines has transformed the SilverKris Lounge, giving it a “home away from home” quality.
“By making our lounge in Manila a reflection of local culture, we want to inspire passengers, as they are welcomed by the sights and strokes influenced by the art of travel and flight,” said Singapore Airlines general manager Philippines, Balagopal Kunduvara.
For the next few months, SIA travelers will be treated to a specially edited selection of lithographic prints by Fernando Zobel as well as brass sculptures by Ferdinand Cacnio.
Zobel was renowned not just for his paintings, but also for his ability beyond the canvas. As he had traveled the world studying and practicing his craft, the lithographic prints on display are inspired by colorful scenes from his time in Massachusetts and Western France.
By adorning the SilverKris Lounge with pieces that illustrate the perfect harmony of art and travel, Singapore Airlines aims to enhance the experience of their passengers as they begin their journey towards a great way to fly.
Since opening its doors in 2015, the SilverKris Lounge has been home to a wide array of artworks by prominent local artists, including Melissa LaO, Lilianna Manahan, Gabriel Lichauco, Stanley Ruiz, and Impy Pilapil whose work stands as a resident piece in the lounge.
