ProPork president is Agrilink 2018 chairman
Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines (ProPork) president Edwin Chen has been tapped as chairman of the 25th edition of the country’s biggest and internationally recognized trade exhibition on agriculture, food and aquaculture – Agrilink, Foodlink and Aqualink. The event will be held from Oct. 4 to 6 at the World Trade Center, Manila.
Chen, an agribusiness entrepreneur, will lead the exhibit supported by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and its regional units such as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization and Bureau of Agricultural Research.
Foundation for Resource Linkage and Development (FRLD) president Antonio Roces said, “In line with the DA’s ongoing thrusts of modernizing our hog sector into a diversified and globally competitive industry, improving its supply and value chains helps improve productivity and our capacity utilization. Edwin Chen’s expertise, particularly in the hog sector, will help Agrilink in providing stakeholders, consumers and farmers a better understanding of how optimizing the farm-to-fork chain address the increasingly changing consumer demand, the need for new technologies to keep the sector competitive.”
Chen and Roces have the same vision that there is an urgent need to elevate the growth in the hog industry. The hog sector remains the biggest contributor in the livestock industry.
