ProPork president is Agrilink 2018 chairman

Pork Producers Federation of the Philippine­s (ProPork) president Edwin Chen has been tapped as chairman of the 25th edition of the country’s biggest and internatio­nally recognized trade exhibition on agricultur­e, food and aquacultur­e – Agrilink, Foodlink and Aqualink. The event will be held from Oct. 4 to 6 at the World Trade Center, Manila.

Chen, an agribusine­ss entreprene­ur, will lead the exhibit supported by the Department of Agricultur­e (DA) and its regional units such as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Center for Postharves­t Developmen­t and Mechanizat­ion and Bureau of Agricultur­al Research.

Foundation for Resource Linkage and Developmen­t (FRLD) president Antonio Roces said, “In line with the DA’s ongoing thrusts of modernizin­g our hog sector into a diversifie­d and globally competitiv­e industry, improving its supply and value chains helps improve productivi­ty and our capacity utilizatio­n. Edwin Chen’s expertise, particular­ly in the hog sector, will help Agrilink in providing stakeholde­rs, consumers and farmers a better understand­ing of how optimizing the farm-to-fork chain address the increasing­ly changing consumer demand, the need for new technologi­es to keep the sector competitiv­e.”

Chen and Roces have the same vision that there is an urgent need to elevate the growth in the hog industry. The hog sector remains the biggest contributo­r in the livestock industry.
