EcoDyip orders 1,000 Mahindra Modern Jeepneys worth P2B

-

ECODYIP, Inc., a newly formed local transport company that aims to gain entry in, and support, the government’s Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization Program, has formally signed a contract with Mahindra Philippines/Columbian Autocar Corporation to supply 1,000 units of Mahindra Modern Jeepneys worth P2 billion. The first 100 units were turned over last July 20 after the signing ceremonies at the Megatent in Libis, Quezon City, with Felix Mabilog, Jr., president of Mahindra Philippines.

Dennise Trajano, managing director of EcoDyip, Inc., which has signed the landmark deal with Mahindra, says his company “is venturing into the local jeepneybound commuter line and feels confident that the Mahindra T20 and Supro Modern Jeepney, which it has chosen as carriers, are more than capable in meeting the requirements of the commuting public.”

“Having tested the Mahindra T20 and Supro Modern Jeepneys on the road for days, I find the vehicle responsive, efficient and has good handling capabilities,” Trajano says. “One advantage worth mentioning is its air-conditioning system which can provide comfortable cooling power even when the units are fully loaded,” he added.

Trajano has given Mahindra his two thumbs up. “Mahindra is a Fortune 500 conglomerate with over $22 billion in annual revenues, says Trajano. “Its global presence spans seven continents and over 100 countries, with over 200,000 employees worldwide. It is in aerospace, information technology, agribusiness, defense, financial service, vacation ownership among other business interests. It is the number one tractor producer in the world and the number one producer of utility vehicles in India. With close to 1.5 billion in Indian population, how can you go wrong?” Trajano asked.

Mahindra/CAC has a modern and fully equipped assembly plant in a sprawling 10-hectare complex at the Laguna International Industrial Plant (LIIP) in Laguna. It is capable of assembling more than 10,000 units annually, a fact not lost on Trajano and EcoDyip Inc. when the decision to place the big order was made.

The powertrain for the Mahindra T20 and cab and chassis for the Mahindra Supro Modern Jeepneys are imported from India but the body, flooring, roof, leather (or vinyl seats) and other customized modifications are fabricated in the Philippines.

Manufactured under strict quality control guidelines that are the hallmark of the Mahindra brand, the T20 and Supro Modern Jeepneys are built and assembled at the Mahindra/CAC assembly plant. Because the Mahindra T20 and Supro Modern Jeepneys are factory-issued, they all carry the full manufacturer’s warranty.

EcoDyip, Inc. has come in full support of the government’s PUV Modernization Program. The company seeks to gradually help ease road traffic conditions using the Mahindra T20 and Supro Modern Jeepneys through efficient fleet management. With its use of Euro 4-compliant diesel engines, it also supports the government’s clean air environment initiatives.

EcoDyip also plans to hire jeepney drivers that will eventually be displaced by the government’s PUV Modernization Program and train them on the technicalities of driving, safety measures, and proper etiquette in dealing with passengers. It will also introduce a better payment method with an automated fare collection system. With its brand-new units with modern features, EcoDyip Inc. endeavors to ensure the safety, comfort and security of the riding public including persons with disabilities (PWDs).
