Texters send home Glover, call in ‘double-double’ Davis

-

TNT KaTropa has called in Pepperdine University standout and double-double specialist Stacy Davis to help its cause in the PBA Governors Cup.

The 23-year-old Davis flew in yesterday to take the place of the ineffective Mike Glover, and took the measurement test at the PBA office.

Commissioner Willie Marcial said Davis was measured at 6’4” 7/8 and well inside the limit of 6’5” for all 12 imports in this season-ending conference.

Davis will lead the KaTropa in their game against Blackwater at 4:30 p.m.

In the nightcap at 7 p.m. Meralco takes on Alaska.

He brings with him a solid background as a Pepperdine player for four years until 2016. He ranks high in the program’s alltime scoring list.

For Pepperdine, the alma mater of former PBA hotshot Ricky Brown, he scored a total of 1,786 points and grabbed 994 rebounds. He’s the only player in Pepperdine history to lead the team in rebounding all four years he played.

In his final season for the school, Davis recorded 15 double-doubles, including five in a row late in the season.

TNT and Meralco are tied at 1-1 and will both seek a share of the lead with NLEX.

The KaTropa lost their first game to NLEX with Glover as import. Then Glover was sent home, and TNT played all-Filipino against Meralco, winning by two points.
