Successful business networking between Thai, local firms
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce in Thailand in conjunction with Thai Trade Center in Manila brought together 13 companies to network with distributors, wholesalers and importers of their products in the Philippines.
The business matching event, “Thailand-Philippines Business Matching Event and Networking 2018,” happened last Aug. 23, at Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City. It highlighted industries under automotive such as auto supplies, body parts, automotive rubber, auto filters, clutch and cylinders and motorcycle parts and accessories; construction and hardware materials such as UPVC sliding window, laminate flooring, PC wires, screen nets and other construction nets, padlocks and locks for cars, house and furniture; agricultural machinery such as diesel and gasoline engines; and industrial refrigeration cabinet showcase and more.
The business matching and networking event started with speeches graced by distinguished guests including Ms. Khankhanit Amphuprapa, director, Thai Trade Center, Manila; Mr. Jakkrit Suwansilp, vice president for sales and marketing, Siam Mariwasa Ceramics Inc.; Ms. Nattika Kanpawong, vice president/ general manager, Bangkok Bank; and Rommel Guittierrez, president, Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc.
Over 60 local distributors made connections and were able to successfully close deals from the meeting with the Thailand companies present. “It’s not what you know, but who you know,” Amphuprapa said.
