Calamity, fire victims receive BDO aid

-

As part of efforts organized by BDO Foundation, volunteers from BDO branches and partners mounted relief operations in Cavite, Cotabato, Pangasinan, Sulu and Tarlac for people distraught and displaced by continuous torrential rains, massive flooding and fire.

BDO officers and staff visited a total of 26 barangays to distribute more than 11,800 relief packs containing food and water to affected families. They were led by BDO branch heads in the following areas: Cotabato-Kabacan, Vivian Mate; Dagupan-Mayombo, Glenda Viado; Tarlac-Camiling, Cezar Salazar; Pangasinan-Calasiao, Aileen Fama; Waltermart-Concepcion, Enrique Maristela; Tarlac-San Roque, Liza Flores, and Cavite-Puregold Tanza, Cheryl Balladares.

Local government officials and non-BDO volunteers also participated in the relief operations. The initiative is in fulfillment of the disaster response advocacy of BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, and its commitment to serve people marginalized by calamities.

Heavy rainfall submerged several low-lying areas in the town of Kabacan in Cotabato, prompting government officials to place the town under a state of calamity.

A state of calamity was also declared in Cavite, Pangasinan and Tarlac, provinces severely affected by monsoon rains enhanced by a series of tropical storms. Three typhoons – Henry, Inday and Josie caused widespread flooding in different parts of Luzon.
