Batibot design exhibit at SM Aura Premier
Batibot, an exhibit of the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde’s Interior Design Program, recently showcased how one can create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also cause-oriented at SM Aura Premier Atrium.
A joint project of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s Interior Design Program and SM Aura Premier, the exhibit shows how a child’s development can be correlated with design both as an inspiration and as an output.
The Batibot exhibit is divided into two: the Interior Design Exhibit class, the renovation of Barangay 753’s Daycare Center and the exhibit of the Furniture Design class, Reminiscing Philippine Children’s Play through Furniture Craftsmanship.
The renovation of Barangay 753’s Daycare Center is a wonderful manifestation of how a functional, accessible and safe environment can aid in children’s learning. This community project integrates design principles and theories the students learned in their classes and translating those into social responsibility. Former DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman calls it “design with a heart.”
Meanwhile, Furniture Design class’ showcase feature designs derived from various childhood games: from sungka, Chinese garter,
saranggola, jolen, etc. The students opted to rely on these traditional and local games to translate their skills and creativity into furniture design.
