Listed telecom and technology firm NOW Corp. has made significant upgrades in its current equipment capacity in preparation for the huge demand of broadband internet of its customers.

NOW said it has upgraded its equipment capacity by 400 times since the commencement of its broadband business in late 2015 when it launched its broadband business under the brand NOWFiber Air .

The company is now capable of deploying speeds of up to 2.4 gigabits per second from 700 megabits per second, allowing it to deliver better digital experiences for their customers.

This development facilitates the creation of smart cities in metropolitan and central business district areas across the country and strengthen NOW’s role as an active partner to commercial and residential buildings and enterprises, it reported.

NOW business development and strategy head Kristian Pura said the company is currently talking to top global telecom suppliers that would enable it to introduce new products in order to cater to the needs of a wider market.

“With this Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) that we have deployed in Metro Manila and with the recent upgrade of our network, we can position ourselves first in the market to rollout next-generation networks in the near future. FWA is not new in the telecom world. US telecom giants Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and even Google Fiber all use FWA to deploy the last mile to end customers,” Pura said.

“Digital transformation is becoming a buzz word. However, infrastructure is key in order to provide digital services to the enterprise community. NOW Corp. is in the best position to serve this market as we also provide IT services across industries,” Pura added.

NOW is in the business of providing telecom, media and technology service.

It has then been servicing large enterprises including new enterprise customers such as Manila International Airport Authority, Phoenix Publishing, MyTown Properties, Department of Environmental and Natural Resources and Prudential Guarantee and Insurance Inc.
