LINGKOD BAYANI: MAKA-DIYOS, MAKATAO, MAKABAYAN

As the premiere human resource institution of the Philippine Government, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) continues to respond to the ever-changing demands of public service by implementing human resource initiatives that are designed to mold servant-heroes and empower agencies.

Every year, the Philippine civil service commemorates the enactment of Public Law No. 5, “An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands” on Sept. 19, 1900. The bureaucracy also celebrates the achievements and contributions of the men and women in government who uphold the country’s societal goals and overall vision.

This year’s activities are meant to remind government workers of their important role in exemplifying love of God and country, building a citizen-centric government, and promoting

malasakit in public service for our number one client — the Filipino people.

FUN RUN FOR A CAUSE

The R.A.C.E. To Serve Fun Run has been the official kick-off activity of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) since 2011. The CSC National Capital Region (NCR) organizes the Fun Run at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila, while CSC Regional Offices hosts their own kickoff events in their respective regions on the same date.

The Fun Run is in line with the constitutional mandate of the CSC to promote morale among government workers, which includes fostering goodwill and camaraderie among the human resource of the bureaucracy, and motivating government workers to improve their mental and physical health through running and exercise.

Most importantly, the Fun Run raises funds for the Pamanang Lingkod Bayani (PLBi) program to sustain the provision of financial assistance to families of servant-heroes who died in the line of duty. As of September 2018, 118 beneficiaries have been awarded under the PLBi program. PLBi recipients include uniformed and civilian personnel who perished in rescue efforts during Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.

Around 15,000 runners signed up for the 3K, 5K, and 10K categories of the 2018 Fun Run held at the Quirino Grandstand.

Partners and sponsors include the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, City Government of Manila, Manila Police District, Manila Barangay Bureau, Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, City Government of Pasay, Department of Public Works and Highways National Capital Region, Philippine Sports Commission, National Parks Development Committee, Department of Health National Capital Region, Philippine Information Agency, People’s Television Network Inc., Philippine National Police, Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, Maynilad Water Services Inc., Government Service Insurance System, Social Security System, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Home Development Mutual Fund, Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and Duty Free Philippines.

GOVERNMENT CHORAL COMPETITION

GOVERNMENT JOB FAIR

In line with its mandate to uphold merit and fitness in recruitment, the CSC is holding the 2018 Government Job Fair to bring together employers and job seekers in one venue to create access and employment opportunities in the government service. The job fair for participants in the National Capital Region will be held on Sept. 26 to 27 at the SM City North EDSA Skydome. This will be co-organized by the CSC Central Office and CSC National Capital Region. The job fair will likewise be held in other venues across the country, to be organized by CSC Regional Offices. Job seekers are advised to coordinate with the CSC Regional Offices nearest them to inquire about available schedules and venues, if any.
