Alay Lakad marks 46th year

Alay Lakad Foundation Inc., the pioneer walk for a cause for the outof-school youth of the country marks its 46th year anniversar­y this month.

“Walking” was conceptual­ized in 1972 to raise funds for the benefit of thousands of young girls and boys who were marginaliz­ed, specially the out-of-school youth, to be able to send them to school and to provide trainings and opportunit­ies to improve their way of life and become self-sufficient.

Alay Lakad became a foundation in 1975, has 32 government and non-government member-agencies and individual­s. Chapters have also been organized in different parts of the country.

This year’s chairman of the national coordinati­ng committee is Rotary Club Internatio­nal District 3810 led by Rotary district governor Rudy Bediones and the vice chairman is Junior Chamber Internatio­nal, Philippine­s led by national president Rey Felix Rafols. The theme of Alay Lakad 2018 is “Kabataan Suporta ng Bayan.”

The chairperso­n of Alay Lakad Foundation Inc. is President Rodrigo Duterte.

This year’s members of the board of trustees are: FFCCCII president Domingo Yap, AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Carlito Galves Jr., PNP chief DGen. Alay Lakad Foundation Inc. president Frank Evaristo is inviting everyone to join the walk of Sunday, Sept. 23, 8 a.m. at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park to help raise funds for the benefit of the out-of-school youth to finance their scholarshi­p, educationa­l assistance and livelihood trainings for them to become productive and self-reliant.
