NEDA OKs 3 projects for feasibility funding

- CZERIZA VALENCIA

The infrastructure committee of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has approved for feasibility study funding three projects involving water supply and mass transport.

Projects approved for preparation were the following: Water Supply Project in Selected LGUs for the Local

Government Support Fund – SAGANA at Ligtas na Tubig para sa Lahat (LGSFSALINTUBIG) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government; Ipo Dam No. 3 Project of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System; and Pampanga Mass Transit System Project of the Department of Transportation.

The study for the SALINTUBIG project would identify reliable water sources for the construction of water systems, while the study for the Ipo Dam No. 3 Project would involve the construction of a dam downstream of the New Ipo Dam and upstream of the Bustos Dam. The Ipo Dam No. 3 would also be a catchment for spillage from Angat Dam to mitigate flooding in the area.

For the Pampanga Mass Transit System Project, the study would look into the establishment of mass transit routes along MacArthur Highway and within the Clark Freeport Zone. The DOTr project aims to promote sustainable land development along the transport corridor including Clark Green City.

Funding would be sourced from the P1.595 billion Project Development and other Related Studies (PDRS) Fund, a special purpose fund under the 2018 General Appropriations Act.

NEDA administers the fund for the conduct of feasibility studies, masterplan formulation, alternatives and/ or value analyses, and other pre-investment activities of major infrastructure projects.

The agency estimates the cost of developing the three projects at P155 million.
