Longchamp captures bohemian luxury with the Amazone
The makers of everyone’s favorite, foldable and lightweight Le Pliage have created a new “it” bag, featured on the arm of “it” girl Kendall Jenner. The Longchamp Amazone, created for modern, status quo-defying women, showcases the Parisian label’s attention to craftsmanship in its leather goods. A brand long inspired by travel and discovery, Longchamp is known for its product’s lightness, versatility and easy, understated luxury. The Amazone is no different.
Who wears the Amazone bag? The Longchamp Amazon, which the brand describes as a nomadic, urban traveler who is strong, free, courageously feminine and rebellious. “Longchamp women are the 21st century Amazons. They own their femininity. I was thinking about them while creating this new line,” says Sophie Delafontaine, creative director at Longchamp.
The Amazone line has three different sizes of messenger bags. The Amazone Matelasse, in supple black and powder leather, has a metallic chain that allows you to carry it in different ways. The stirrup buckle echoes the equestrian spirit: the braided piping lends a feminine touch, while the signature is hot-stamped discreetly onto the leather. For the padding, Longchamp has structured a soft and full lambskin material using vertical topstitching.
Amazone Folk is characterized by fringed suede, with similar equestrian and bohemian influences. The Amazone Python comes in glossy calf leather embossed in a python style. The scales are painted with lush patterns that give it a wild character. The Python styles come in shades of pink and another one in gray and white. * * *
