Modern Fusion

- LUIS ESPIRITU, JR.

Fashion in Manila is flourishing despite rising inflation. The local style landscape is brimming with so much promise to move design forward. Co-existing harmoniously with the popularity of artisanal work in accessories, bags, shoes and clothing are the growing partnerships of designers with retail brands, shops and boutiques. Through the decade, a designer or two would make headlines with his collaboration with a famous fashion retail brand, adding more premium and prestige to it. Today, these unions have, one way or another, influenced an optimistic change by exposing and showcasing more talented designers, adding luxurious impressions and expanding market reach.

Popular among Manila’s fashion pack and insiders is the recently launched Comme Çi (owned by the same women behind the lifestyle concept store Cura V). The new name in the local retail field is creating ripples in the style scene with its well-curated contemporary clothing and accessories.

What’s new is that this visionary on-the-radar brand is spearheading fashion forward through innovative creations with award-winning designer Joey Samson. This modern fusion showcases an exposition of progressive design present in garments that are characterized by the beauty of experimentation and unconventional silhouettes reflective of intelligent dressing.

With the same aesthetics, principles and direction, the union of Comme Çi and Joey Samson is a match made in heaven — focused on innovation in both design and luxury.
