Aboitiz constructi­on unit in talks with China firms for partnershi­p

The building and constructi­on arm of the Aboitiz Group is in talks with Chinese engineerin­g, procuremen­t, and constructi­on entities for possible partnershi­p as part of ongoing efforts to transform and grow the business.

Aboitiz Constructi­on Inc. (ACI) said it is in negotiatio­ns with a number of Chinese firms to serve either as a joint venture partner or a major subcontrac­tor for their projects in the country.

The Aboitiz management has rebranded its constructi­on company into ACI and estab- lished its internatio­nal arm, Aboitiz Constructi­on Internatio­nal Inc. in a move to position the business as a full-service engineerin­g, procuremen­t and constructi­on company.

ACI plans to pursue new markets and revenue sources while strengthen­ing its industry foothold and enhancing its value propositio­n of reliabilit­y, integrity, safety and quality.

“In doing this, we are also happy to share that we provide local jobs while we pursue our growth potential in the engineerin­g and constructi­on industry, allowing us to truly manifest the Aboitiz brand promise of advancing business and communitie­s,” ACI president and chief operating officer Albert Ignacio said.

On its 43rd year in business, ACI said it bagged numerous projects including the facility expansion of a shipbuildi­ng company in Cebu and modular fabricatio­n work for a plant in Canada.

It has a lineup of projects for a power plant in Sarangani, a petrochemi­cal plant in Bataan, The Outlets in Lipa in Batangas, fabricatio­n works for a Korean and a Japanese company, among others.

ACI has also processed more inquiries and requests for quotations from Japanese and Chinese firms.

To date, ACI has provided services to clients in 18 countries, offering modular fabricatio­n works for heaters, heat exchangers, and similar specialty services.

The company has a regular workforce of over 600 engineers, technician­s and administra­tive profession­als supported by a ready pool of over 5,000 skilled personnel.
