GMA Network pays tribute to the one and only German “Kuya Germs” Moreno and his valuable contributions and loyalty to the network by renaming one of its studios — the German Moreno Studio.
Marking the 85th birthday of Kuya Germs on Oct. 4, the network remembered the industry’s star builder extraordinaire and the man behind the groundbreaking variety shows at GMA including Germside, Germspesyal, GMA Supershow, That’s Entertainment and Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman.
During the dedication ceremony, GMA chairman and CEO lawyer Felipe Gozon relived Kuya Germs’ enormous and lasting contribution to the lives of many individuals and in show business, “We are grateful to Kuya Germs for devoting the more successful and longest part of his illustrious career in show business. Naming our Studio 6 after him will ensure that he will never be forgotten for his legendary contributions to the industry and his generosity to everyone in show business.”
GMA COO and president Gilberto Duavit Jr. described Kuya Germs as the epitome of a loyal Kapuso as he spent almost five decades of his showbiz life in the network, “Hindi natulog, hindi kumupas at walang naging
katulad ang ipinakitang loyalty ni Kuya Germs sa GMA Network. There’s only one beloved Master Showman.”
Meanwhile, Kuya Germs’ family led by his son Federico Moreno, described Kuya Germs as “a man who did not just devote his life to his craft but also to the people he truly loves.” Federico expressed his deep admiration for his father’s dedication to his profession and his selflessness, “For me, the most significant part of his life is honest-to-goodness love. I would like to say thank you for this honor that you have bestowed on him. I am sure he is here. I know in his wildest dreams, he would never expect this because he never expected anything back.”
One of Kuya Germs’ dearest friends Marichu “Manay Ichu” Maceda thanked the network for valuing Kuya Germs’ works and loyalty. DSWD Undersecretary Isko Moreno, one of
Kuya Germs’ talents, testified to the late icon’s loyalty. “Today, he teaches us that it pays to be loyal. We were taught that way by Kuya Germs many times.”
The occasion was graced by various personalities close to Kuya Germs’ heart, including MTRCB chairperson Maria Rachel Arenas.
