Udenna yet to firm up partner for telco bid
Dennis Uy’s Udenna Corp. has yet to firm up who it will partner with for its potential participation in the selection of the country’s new major telecommunications player.
In a statement yesterday, Udenna said the company is still undertaking its own comprehensive research and study on its possible participation in the bidding for a third telco player.
“Nothing has been finalized yet, including potential partnerships with foreign or local companies,” the company said.
To qualify for the bidding, Udenna must partner with a domestic corporation with a Congressional franchise, as required under the terms of reference.
Udenna was among the initial five companies that purchased the P1 million bid documents during the first day of its availability on Monday.
“Udenna Corp. expressed earlier its interest to participate in the Philippine government’s plan to bring in a new maselection jor player and its recent purchase of documents from the National Telecommunications Commission on Oct. 8 is a confirmation of the said expressed interest,” Udenna said.
“Specifically, in the area of logistics, a crucial component of the telecommunications industry, Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp. will explore opportunities in this sector,” it said.
Submission of the selection documents is set on Nov. 7, during which the provisional new major player will likely be known.
Udenna is at the helm of the diversified business interests of the Udenna Group in petroleum and oil through Phoenix Petroleum, shipping and logistics through Chelsea Logistics, real estate through Udenna Development, education through Enderun Colleges, and infrastructure through Udenna Infrastructure.
