Go: More programs lined up for Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY – As part of the administration’s promise of real change, the government is prioritizing the health, livelihood and infrastructure programs for areas outside Metro Manila including this city, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said on Saturday.

Go said the Duterte administration has brought livelihood programs and infrastructure projects to Zamboanga.

He said the present access road to the La Paz Resort has been improved to promote tourism in the area.

“We will make traveling to Zamboanga City from Siocon and other neighboring towns easier and faster and we have paved the road sections of the Siocon-Sibuco-Limpana Road,” Go said in his speech.

One-stop shop facilities here have been set up to expedite processing of requirement for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“We have improved the competitiveness of these MSMEs by providing them with machinery and equipment paired with systems and skills to uplift their livelihood,” he said.

Aside from the ongoing projects, Go launched the 14th Malasakit Center at the Zamboanga City Medical Center on Saturday.

On Friday, he launched the same centers in Bohol, Butuan and Cagayan de Oro City.

After delivering his speech, Go headed for the hospital wards and distributed cash assistance to the patients.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop program of President Duterte meant to hasten the delivery of medical services and give poor patients access to free medicine.

A fast-lane prioritizing the senior citizens and persons with disabilities is available at the center.

Meanwhile, President Duterte signed Republic Act 11087 increasing the bed capacity of the Zamboanga City Medical Center from 500 to 800 beds.

Go cited the significance of the law, saying he had seen how crowded the hospital wards were.

“How can the patients get better if there are no available beds for them to rest and recover?” he asked.

Go is set to launch a 5th Malasakit Center in Legazpi.
