- Emmanuel Tupas

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) recently gave around P7.5 million in cash incentives to four civilian informants under its Operation Private Eye program.

PDEA chief Aaron Aquino handed out the reward to the informants identified through their codenames Pekka, Milo, Rod and Koolet.

The informants, who wore masks and sunglasses to conceal their identities, received the reward at the agency’s main office in Quezon City on Monday.

“PDEA informants remain anonymous for their security and protection,” Aquino said.

Pekka, Milo and Rod received P2 million each for giving information, which led to the arrest of drug suspects and seizure of narcotics.

Pekka’s tip to authorities resulted in the arrest of a Chinese and the confiscation of around 253 kilos of pseudoephedrine, 109.428 grams of ephedrine and 22.522 liters of liquid shabu in Quezon City in May last year.

Milo was instrumental in the raid in Parañaque City in June 2017 where authorities arrested another Chinese and seized 49,831.70 kilos of shabu.

Rod provided information that led to the arrest of a Chinese and seizure of 71,205.70 grams of shabu in Las Piñas City in July 2017.

Koolet received P1.5 million for his tip, which led to the arrest of two drug suspects and confiscation of 23,996.79 grams of shabu in Sta. Ana, Manila last June. –
