Ford builds water facilities for Gawad Kalinga communities
Ford Philippines recently built three new water facilities as part of its Operation Better World program that reinforces the importance of social responsibility and volunteerism across the organization.
In partnership with Gawad Kalinga, the new communal water facilities were constructed in time for Ford’s Global Caring Month celebrated annually every September. The new water facilities in GK Cabulacan in Sta.Catalina, Negros Oriental, GK Camposano in Brgy. Tabu in Dulag, Leyte, and GK Formoso in San Jose, Nueva Ecija will benefit over 170 families residing in remote areas, giving them access to safe, clean, and potable water.
Dealer employees from Ford Dumaguete, Ford Tacloban and Ford Cabanatuan have volunteered to help construct the water facilities, rendering over 320 hours of community work.
Building a communal water system in GK communities was conceived when Ford Fund through Global Giving made available mini-grants for projects that will promote volunteerism during Ford’s Global Month of Caring.
A $15,000 Global Giving grant supported the construction of the three new water facilities in the Philippines this year.
“We’re very happy to see the completion of the new water facilities in these GK sites that will provide families access to clean water. At Ford, we remain committed to help make a difference in the communities we serve with our continued efforts and initiatives to uplift the lives of those in need,” said Josie Gonzalez, AVP for government and corporate affairs, Ford Philippines.
Since 2014, Ford has built a total of 14 water facilities in the Luzon and Visayas regions, benefitting over 1,000 families and giving them a stable and sustainable water source.
The project has continued to elicit support from Ford dealer employees, GK residents, and other local stakeholders serving as volunteers through the years.
