56 sports up for approval of 2019 SEAG Fed Council

Fifty-six sports discipline­s and the calendar of events proposed for the 2019 Manila Southeast Asian Games have been tabled for discussion by the SEA Games Federation Council which started the first round of talks yesterday for final approval next month.

In the calendar of events for the SEAG the country is hosting Nov. 30 to Dec. 10, 2019 are athletics and aquatics for Category 1; and archery, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiards, bowling, boxing, chess, cycling, dance sports, equestrian/polo, hockey (indoor), fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, ice skating, judo, karatedo, modern pentathlon, muay, pencak silat, rowing, rugby 7’s, sailing/windsurfin­g, sepak takraw, shooting, softball, soft tennis, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, traditiona­l boat race, triathlon, volleyball, weightlift­ing, wrestling, wushu, petanque and surfing for Category 2.

Arnis, E-sports, jujitsu, kick-boxing, kurash, lawn bowls, obstacle course, floorball, sambo, skateboard­ing, underwater hockey and vovinam are in Category 3.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Ricky Vargas, in his capacity as federation president, presided over the broadcast committee meeting.

POC chairman Abraham Tolentino was on top of the sports and rules committee meeting held yesterday afternoon at the Conrad Hotel in Pasay.

Except for Timor Leste, representa­tives of the 10 other SEA Games member countries were present during the meetings that will precede the SEA Games Council meeting in Manila next month.
