SB Corp. to extend assistance to displaced persons and uniformed personnel

- LOUELLA DESIDERIO

Small Business Corp., the microfinancing arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), plans to provide assistance to more internally displaced persons (IDPs) and uniformed personnel who were either killed or wounded in the Marawi conflict to hasten the city’s recovery and encourage business activity.

“We are giving our commitment to the IDPs that the administration of President Duterte will continue to seek ways in providing business and livelihood opportunities to help them and Marawi recover,” DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said in a statement.

As the DTI is taking the lead in the Task Force Bangon Marawi Subcommittee on Business and Livelihood to accelerate the recovery and rehabilitation of businesses in Marawi City, he said more entrepreneurs would be provided assistance through loan packages without interest.

“Access to zero-interest microfinancing is very important to entrepreneurs who are starting as well as those expanding their businesses. With the business seminars offered by DTI and the loan packages by SB Corp. for the affected families and residents, we’re speeding up the recovery of the city,” he said.

Micro enterprises that are neither DTI starter kit recipients nor Marawi public market stall owners may apply for loans under the Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso (P3) Program from SB Corp.’s accredited conduits such as Radiowealth Finance Company Inc. and CARD Inc.
