GMA Kapuso inaugurate­s school bldg in Marawi

Iligan City – The GMA Kapuso Foundation recently inaugurate­d and turned over a rebuilt school building that was destroyed during the fivemonth siege in Marawi City by the Maute terrorist group.

GMAKF chief operating officer Nikki Escudero Catibog said the four-classroom, eightrestr­oom school building at the Camp Bagong Amai Pakpak Elementary School inbarangay Diaba Damog is part of its Rebuilt Marawi Project in coordinati­on with multi-sectoral groups.

The salient features of the rebuilt school building can withstand under different conditions during a calamity that includes resiliency against bullets, fire, typhoon and termites.

GMAKF has partnered with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) and supported by funds coming from Wilcon Depot, ICCT Foundation Inc., Princess Datu Sri Becky Leogardo.

Material donations came from Hanabishi Philippine­s, Mariwasa Siam Ceramics, NKD Internatio­nal Trading Corp., Ho Cheng Phil. Corp. and Davies Philippine­s.

A stage for the school was donated by Eat Bulaga, Republic Cement and Alden Richards.

Kapuso Lingap project donated a handwashin­g facility with Manila Water Foundation while shelves for library was donated by Children of Mindanao.

Noche Buena packs were distribute­d by GMAKF Give a Gift Project.

At present GMAKF is undertakin­g a similar project in another location at Pendolonan Elementary School, with sixclassro­oms and 12 CRs.

The sectoral groups that helped in the project are Armed Forces of the Philippine­s Western Mindanao Command, 54th Engineerin­g Brigade of the Philippine Army, Task Force Bangon Marawi, Joint Task Force Ranao, Department of Education national and regional offices, Department of Public Works and Highways, DepEd schools division, local government units of Marawi, Lanao del Sur, the Philippine Population Office of Lanao Del Sur.
