Soon-to-rise Summit Hotel Tacloban: A relaxing staycation rich in culture

-

As a way of celebrating Tacloban’s strength against all odds and also of giving back, Summit Hotels is set to open a new property in the heart of the city — Summit Hotel Tacloban. It will be the fifth property under the Summit Hotels brand and serves as a physical representation of the beauty that remains within and around the city.

Only one and a half hours away by air from the center of Metro Manila, this soon-to-rise hotel that will stand beside Robinsons Place Tacloban in Marasbaras pays homage to the beauty and culture of Eastern Visayas. Its strategic location that allows visitors to explore the areas beyond the city walls makes it a convenient getaway to experience the undiscovered within the region.

This is best reflected in the hotel’s well-appointed interiors which take inspiration from Eastern Visayas’ colorful history and lush environment. As you enter the hotel, you’ll be greeted by wooden arches symbolizing Tacloban as the gateway to the region, and bursts of colors that symbolize the vibrancy of Filipino culture. Basket weave and coconut leaf patterns are also dotted all around the area.

This Tropical Filipino look is just as apparent in the hotel’s 138 rooms, making use of design concepts and finishes that are unique to the region. Super Rooms feature native woodwork patterns to mimic the bamboo flooring of the traditional bahay

kubo. Meanwhile, six guest suites are inspired by three major celebrations in the region. Sangyaw rooms, from the Sangyaw Festival which is devoted to the Sto. Niño, feature bold floral patterns and metallic accents. Meanwhile, Lubi-Lubi rooms, from the lubi-lubi (coconut dance) street parade that is a commemoration of peace, love, and unity among barangays, consist of bold leaf patterns and a variety of textures and colors. Lastly, Pintados rooms, from the Pintados Festival which celebrates the first inhabitants of Visayas, are filled with modernized symbolic tattoo patterns.

Summit Hotel Tacloban also provides opportunities for its guests to immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of Tacloban City with the various dining options, interesting attractions, and lively festivals all conveniently located and within reach.

Visitors can enjoy cultural places like the Sto. Niño Shrine and Heritage Museum and the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park. Adventurers will want to go hiking to the lifesized Stations of the Cross in the scenic Calvary Hill in Siren District, or explore the Sohoton Natural Bridge National Park. Burgos Street isn’t to be missed either for the many restaurants and bars it houses.

Summit Hotel Tacloban will soft open on March 2018.
