Student caught smoking weed; 15 others held for drugs

A 17-year-old student was arrested after he was allegedly caught smoking marijuana in the toilet of a university in Sampaloc, Manila on Monday night.

Mark John Peña, a teacher at the Arellano University senior high school department, told police that he was walking near the men’s toilet when he smelled weed.

Peña entered the toilet and saw the Grade 11 student allegedly smoking marijuana.

Four other drug suspects were apprehended by police in Tondo and Sampaloc.

They were Rosie Perez, 43; Rene Suplito, 42; Sonny Liwanag, 26, and George Tumibay, 37.

In Quezon City, 11 persons were rounded up in anti-narcotics operations in the past two days.

Nine of the suspects were nabbed while allegedly engaged in a drug session at a shanty in Barangay Tatalon, according to Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., director of the Quezon City Police District.

Among them are Eduardo Espinosa, 56, and Errol Mationg, 35.

Police said packs of shabu and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the suspects.

Suspected drug pusher Mark John Tiburcio, 21, was arrested in a sting in Barangay Immaculate Concepcion.

Probers said Tiburcio allegedly sold marijuana to a policeman who posed as a buyer.

Tiburcio allegedly yielded six sachets of marijuana.

In Barangay Gulod, vendor Allex Correa, 45, was held for alleged possession of shabu and a bladed weapon.

Police nabbed Christian Quaimbao for shoplifting at a mall in Barangay Fairview. When frisked, he reportedly yielded a sachet of shabu.

Four persons, including a 17-yearold boy, were collared in a sting in Barangay Payatas.

The minor was nabbed along with Jhelru Alicando, 33; Jane Padeso, 18, and Margarita Mendoza, 44.

Police said they recovered nine sachets of shabu and a plastic bag of marijuana from the suspects.

In Barangay Kaligayahan, police arrested Whart Casquejo, 33, and Danilo Lasala, 31, for alleged possession of shabu. –
