3 fires break out in MM
Around 600 families were left homeless while three persons were injured when a fire broke out at a residential area in Makati before dawn yesterday.
Arson probers said the fire started on the third level of an apartment owned by a man known only as Tucio, in Barangay Guadalupe Viejo at around 1:20 a.m.
Fire officer Francis Aaron Cruz said the blaze reached Task Force Bravo before it was declared under control at around 5:26 a.m.
Cruz said at least 300 houses were destroyed by the fire.
He said two residents and a rescuer suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The affected families are temporarily taking shelter at the Nuestra Señora de Gracia Church in the area.
Authorities said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
In Valenzuela City, a fire of unknown origin struck an industrial building in Barangay Rincon on Monday night.
Four volunteers from Caloocan were injured in an accident while about to respond to a fire in Tondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.
Erwin Saranza said they were on the way to the scene when a car swerved in front of the fire truck along Honorio Lopez street around 12:30 a.m.
The truck driver tried to avoid the collision but the vehicle crashed into a tree.
Saranza and his companions sustained injuries after they fell off the truck.
Authorities failed to locate the driver of the car, who sped off after the accident. –
