Lacoste revisits the classics
Without style, playing and winning are not enough,” French tennis star René Lacoste famously said. Thanks to him, athlete-off-duty style can be easily achieved with a mere pop of the collar. Even those who don’t have a sporty bone in their bodies can be winners, style-wise, when wearing a Lacoste shirt, loved for its casual ease, luxurious fabric, and flattering fit.
Lacoste created the L.12.12 shirt in 1933. The tennis icon, nicknamed “Le Crocodile,” embroidered a crocodile on it, and another icon was born. As Lacoste celebrates its 85th anniversary, the brand revisits the L12.12 polo shirt with a limited 85th Anniversary Edition of the Lacoste L.12.12 Chronograph.
Sporty, elegant and relaxed, the chronograph design features a black, navy blue or khaki IP-plated steel case and a case back market with the anniversary logo, specially created for the occasion. With a diameter of 42mm, it’s neither too large or too small — it’s just right for any wrist. The new model features a minimalist monochrome dial with indexes, hour and minute hands, a second hand, and three tone-on-tone counters. The dial is completed by the famous Crocodile icon, placed at 3:00. Referencing the House’s origins, the leather bracelet is embossed with a petit piqué motif.
Lacoste is also releasing a whole new collection of L.12.12 watches called Lacoste.12.12, available in three-hands or chronograph. The two new models are inspired by the iconic polo shirt and stay true to the brand’s DNA with sporty lines and timeless colors such as blue, red, green, black or white. The strap is also decorated with an embossed petit piqué resin pattern, to match the silcone bezel. MGI Luxury Group S.A. marketing manager Stefan Glatz raves about his favorite part of the new timepiece, the back of the case, which features a stylized polo shirt on a petite piqué background on the back of the case. The new collection is also distinguishable by the Lacoste.12.12 marking on the end of the strap.
Lacoste watches are available at Lacoste kiosks at SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia and selected L Timestudio and Wristpod boutiques.
