PANCAKE ART & MUg CAKES iN A MiNUTE
Baking is not my cup of tea. I’d rather whip up kare-kare — from scratch — than pick up a mixing bowl and measure all the ingredients precisely. I’ve tried so many times but I just couldn’t master the art of turning butter, sugar and flour into chewy chocolate chip cookies.
But, as they say, it’s never a bad time to start your baking journey.
So excitement filled me when Maya, makers of Maya pancake and cake mixes, invited me to the launch of its newest product: Maya Mug Cakes.
As its name implies, the Happy Mug cake promises a warm and delicious cake in less than two minutes. And yes, even a self-proclaimed non-baker like me could definitely pull it off. CAKE IT AWAY!
Held at the Liberty Building in Makati City, the launch featured a pancake artcooking demo where we created our own edible masterpieces.
With the help of chef Ron, I managed to bring Peter Parker back to life with my Spider-Man creation. A young boy made the iconic Batman logo with the help of his mom.
Making pancake art is fun, messy and you can make whatever you fancy — from animals to cartoon characters, even emojis!
But the highlight of the event was still the mug cake-baking activity.
Dubbed as the easiest cake to bake ever, mug cakes are the perfect solution when you’re craving a solo sweet treat in a jiffy.
And with Maya Mug Cakes, you’re just a mug and a few minutes from a delicious dessert.
The Maya Happy Mug comes in two flavors: caramel and chocolate. The “mug” contains all the ingredients needed to make the personal-sized treat: flour, sugar, milk powder and even its own topping of either caramel or chocolate. The best part? They’re premixed already. The only thing you need to do is add water (2 1/2 tbsps.).
Mix all the ingredients, pop in the microwave oven and in 1 1/2 minutes, you have a moist, delicious cake. The mix even comes with its own wooden spoon! Cleaning up is never a problem.
Kids will surely enjoy this “baking” activity, though adult supervision is still needed because they have to operate a microwave oven.
Best of all, this mug cake can be embellished with candy sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate chips, cereals, fruits slices and whipped cream.
I wanted to create my own version of choco lava cake, so I put the chocolate sauce in the middle of the mixture before popping it in the microwave oven. Well, the lava didn’t flow, but it tasted just as good! The Maya Happy Mug is available in leading supermarkets nationwide.
